How Voip Works
While we take pride in our
entire website, we take special pride in
these Voip pages. We have done extensive
research in order that you, the end user,
will walk away knowing that you got the best
plan for you own personal needs. There are
many Voip comparison charts out there
already, how is ours different? Firstly, our
charts are 100% guaranteed to be unbiased.
We don't try to promote companies that give
us big commissions. None of that stuff. Just
honest to goodness information to help
people like you seek-a-plan for Voip.
Secondly, we have yet to find a chart that
list more than six companies. When you
seek-a-plan, you want to see all the
choices, don't you ? Lastly, the clarity of
our chart. Check it out, it speaks for
itself. Please Note: All
Plans Require High Speed Internet Access (
DSL or Cable). With Voip plans you
cannot accept Collect calls and you cannot
dial "900" numbers.
Includes U.S. 50 States and Canada. Monthly
Grand Total $24.95 or $16.67

What we like most about Sunrocket is that
they are a no-nonsense company. No added
Taxes, Fees, Charges, Activations, Shipping,
Equipment...(we all know that the list can
keep going). You are either going to pay a
total of $24.95 or $16.67. The Difference:
The $16.67 price is only if you pay up front
for the year which is $199. But don't panic,
there's no contract so anytime during the
year you want to back out, they'll refund
(pro-rate) the remaining balance of your
initial $199.00 payment. Of-course with no
penalty. However, if you choose to pay
monthly, you'll pay $24.95/month. If their
low price shocked you a little, you're in
for a few more surprises. They are the only
Voip company to offer 1) $3.00 of
Free International Calling per month. 2)
Two free calls to Directory Assistance per
month. 3) First 31 days you can try
the service for a full refund. Unlike all
the other companies, Sunrocket gives you
unlimited minutes during your trial period.
Sunrocket also give you a free virtual
number.
Another thing we liked about Sunrocket was
their customer service. There are three ways
to contact them. By phone, email, and live
help. We never had to wait on hold when we
called. Sunrocket makes themselves available
just about anytime you'd want to call: 8:00
a.m. to Midnight EST, seven days a week. International
Rate Grade - 8th place.
Includes U.S. 50 States
and Canada. Monthly Grand Total $19.95
Voipnet offers one of the cheapest plans.
Voipnet doesn't surprise you with extra
fees: $19.95/month. A great plus that
Voipnet offers is a free Virtual Number. If
you are an International caller, we would
highly recommend this plan. Voipnet has the
cheapest rates to most International
destinations. A great feature that no other
Voip provider in our list offers is, Fax to
Email. People wishing to send you a fax,
dial your phone number and the fax is
received directly into your Email inbox. You
don't need a fax machine to receive
faxes.
International Rate Grade - 1st place.
Includes U.S. 50 States
and Canada. Monthly Grand Total $22.05
Recently voted #1 for voice quality, Packet8
has what to offer, all for a very reasonable
price. While all Voip companies offer remote
voicemail retrieval, Packet8 is the only one
to offer a toll free number to the message
center. For most people, this is a valuable
feature. This feature gives you the ability
to call from any phone (incl. payphones) a
toll free number and pick up your voicemail. The
only company to require a 1-year contract.
Canceling your service after the 30 day
trial period is over before 12 months, is
going to set you back $59.00. International
Rate Grade -Tied with Lingo for 6th and
7th place.
Includes U.S. 50 States
(Including P.R.& USVI) Canada, and
Western Europe. The following countries are
included in Western Europe. Please note:
Calls to mobile phones, premium and special
service numbers in these areas are not
included. UK, Germany, France, Italy,
Ireland, Netherlands, Belgium, Denmark,
Switzerland, Sweden, Finland, Austria,
Luxembourg, Vatican City, Norway, Portugal,
and Spain. Monthly Grand Total
$22.09
Even if you don't have any relatives that
you'll be calling in Portugal, this is still
a great value plan. With the monthly grand
total of $22.09 and the first month total
start up fee of $61.99, this plans a winner.
It is noteworthy to mention Lingo's customer
service. Whenever we called, the wait was
short, we got friendly reps, and most of
all, they were well informed, (they didn't
put us on hold every question we asked).
Their e-mail customer care always answered
us promptly with clear answers. A unique
feature of Lingo is their
International virtual numbers. For just
$10/month you can get your own local number
in any one of these countries: Argentina,
Australia, Brazil, Canada (only
$5.00/month), France, Guatemala, Hong Kong,
Italy, Japan, Mexico, Puerto Rico, South
Korea, Spain, Taiwan, UK. International
Rate Grade -Tied with Packet8 for 6th
and 7th place.
Includes U.S. 50 States, and Canada. Monthly
Grand Total $27.24 (N.J. residents pay
$29.54)
With over 1 million Voip
customers, Vonage is the leader in the Voip
retail market. Although in our chart their
monthly grand total adds up to be above
average, if you are looking to stick with a
well establish company, we would suggest
Vonage. A unique feature that surprisingly
is not found by any other VoiP provider is:
Caller ID includes the name (all
providers offer Caller ID, but just the
number comes up without the name). If you
make a lot of International calls, Vonage
may not be your best bet. They scored last
place in our International
Grade System, meaning, Vonage has the
highest International rates. International
Rate Grade - 9th place (last).
Includes U.S. 50 States
and Canada. Monthly Grand Total $24.99
With this plan, you don't have the
option of keeping your current phone
number. The $123.96 start up fee seems quite
high price, but if you send in the rebate
the startup fee will be knocked down to
$73.97. If you are a frequent user of
Directory Assistance, keep in mind that you
are going to pay $1.25 per call (as apposed
to most companies charging only 75 cents).
An important service that is currently
unavailable is 911. When you dial 911
nothing happens. One thing that Opex
uniquely offers is paper billing. For $1.99
a month, you can receive your bill via USPS. International
Rate Grade - 5th place
